Bio

A singer-songwriter from South London, Matthew Ridley started playing solo gigs around pubs and clubs whilst still in school, spurred on after nights spent bustled in at the back of the room of The Easycome acoustic club in Peckham, listening to the likes of Andy Hank, Benjamin Folke Thomas and Trevor Lee.

Pillaging the record collections (and drunken memories) of the same people who took him to The Easycome, Matthew grew up listening to everything ranging from the likes of John Coltrane and Bert Jansch to Prefab Sprout and King Crimson. With all of these influences swirling around Matthew takes his biggest lead from classic acoustic singer-songwriters like John Martyn, Nick Drake, Tim Buckley through to modern day contemporaries like Bon Iver, Phoebe Bridgers, Ryley Walker and many more.

After a sustained period of absence from music due to illness Matthew is back now touring with the EP 'Sink & Swim' available to listen to via any of the links below.
